PRIVACY POLICY

Welcome to our website’s privacy statement.

First, and most importantly: we will always protect your privacy. We do not share your information with any other organization or individual.

Secondly, we don’t gather marketing, social media, or advertising information. In fact, the only information we gather from you on our website are from cookies, for the smooth functioning of our website and to help us know what most interests our website visitors. We do not gather readily identifiable data unless you specifically provide it to us - if you email us, for instance.

As a visitor to our website, you have the right to know:

  • what data is collected by this website.

  •  how we use that data to improve our website’s functionality.

  • how and when your identity is rendered anonymous when you link from our website to other sites.

  • under what circumstances information is gathered, used and protected.

COOKIES

Our website gathers your data in cookies, small programs that capture information for later reporting. Some cookies accompany you when you open any website and some are generated from within the site.  We do not advertise, we do not sell or share your data with anyone, and we do not collect marketing data.

The information stored in the cookies is only and exclusively the information generated and gathered during each use of the website.

When you first visit our website, you’ll see a banner at the bottom of the home page. Here you will have the option of accepting (or not) the use of cookies.

If you do not choose to accept, some of the website functionality is lost to you, but you’ll still be able to visit the site, register for events, and make a donation.

The cookies on our website gather two types of information:

Critical Data

Critical data is essential for website performance and cannot be turned off. This consists mainly of data identifying the cookies sent by your browser, and whether those cookies are set to be enabled or disabled. Critical data includes procedures to load scripts and code on a page, and to speed up load times.

Analytic Data

Our website also records how often you visited the site, how you got to this site, how you moved around inside it, how long you stayed, and whether you exited by linking to another site or by closing the website.

The information these cookies gather includes your web browser, date, time and time zone, the web pages you view and the time you spend on each page, website (if any) that referred you to our site, or search terms that you used to find our site.  This data is aggregated and analyzed by Squarespace to help us understand how the site is used (which pages are popular, for instances) and how we might improve its functionality; it is deleted automatically after 7 days. It will not reveal your name or email.

You can refuse these cookies by not clicking “accept” in the banner appearing at the bottom of the homepage when you visit our website.

PERSONAL DATA

This website gathers very little personal data. If you click Contact Us, enter your name and email, and type a question or comment, this information is sent to our Google email account, and is held securely. When you click the Donate link, you are connected directly with PayPal. You provide personally identifying information and complete the transaction through that provider.  While you are connected to PayPal or any other website, your data is collected and stored according to the policies of that website. The Partnership of Historic Bostons will have access to some of that information, but your information is not reentered in our website and is kept securely offsite.

Likewise, when you register for an event through Eventbrite, and join the event through Zoom, those portals collect information which will be transmitted to us but does not reside on our website.  The personal data we gather is your IP address, which can only identify you if used alongside much other information. It is deleted after 7 days.
